Andover High Street will be filled with local food on Sunday 20th September, with over 35 local produce stalls at the regular Hampshire Farmers' Market, plus a busy programme of cookery demonstrations, a mini farm and a host of additional stalls.
An Autumnal feast of local produce will be available to taste and buy from the Hampshire Farmers' Market. Hungry shoppers can also tuck into a Greenfield's hog roast, Hampshire Provender's soup in a crusty bun, Bowtell's egg and bacon butties, Broughton buffalo burgers or Blackmoor Game venison burgers. Sweet treats include seasonal fruits; blackberries, blueberries, plums, greengages and the last of the season's strawberries.
Cookery demos sponsored by Le Creuset and Waitrose include two winning menus with students who participated in the recent schools and college competitions, prepared by Executive Chef Andy MacKenzie of Lainston House near Winchester and Home Economist Davina Tibbetts. Prizes from Le Creuset for the winners will be presented on the day. Local chefs will also rise to the 'battle of the pans challenge'! The menu designs entered by children as part of the schools competitions will be displayed in the Chantry Centre and other activities include Portway School potting their winter flowers, Fairtrade bag painting and children preparing ginger bread men with G'nosh. There'll be recycling advice from Test Valley Borough Council and tips on growing your own fruit and veg from The Drove Allotment Association. Additional stallholders include Waitrose, Twinings, local crafts and more. Storytelling and live music will add to the Festival atmosphere throughout the day.
Feast Andover Food Fayre, on Sunday 20th September, runs from 10am - 3pm in the High Street and Chantry Centre. Admission is free.
